Line Graphs

Instructions for Activity

 

Draw a Line Graph to represent this information.

NOTE:  This is meant to be an interactive activity. 

In order to work with this activity, minimize the screen at any time to work on the given graph.

Step 1

Open Word Perfect.  Minimize it to return to instructions.

Step 2

Go to INSERT, then GRAPHIC. Under GRAPHIC, select CHART. A graph will automatically display on your screen.

Step 3

Select a line graph by going to a drop down icon in the toolbar called DATA CHART GALLERY. When there, select the first chart in the first row.

Step 4

A data sheet will appear on the screen. Under the letters A to E write the abbreviations for the days of the week. Click under each letter individually. Click under A and write Mon (for Monday) in the data section. Then click under B and write Tue for Tuesday, and so on.

If you click off the data sheet and you lose it, all you have to do is double click on the graph. Once the graph is highlighted, select the VIEW DATA SHEET icon from the toolbar.

Step5

Delete all the data across from all the Lines by highlighting the data and then pressing the delete button on the keyboard. A prompt will appear asking if you want all data deleted, click YES.

Step 6

Now title Line 1 by clicking on it. When prompted, type "# of Visitors".

Step 7

To move your graph to the center of your page, click on one of the sides and hold down on the mouse, then move it to the desired location.

Step 8

If you want more of your graph labeled, go to LABELS : DISPLAY ALL LABELS icon in your toolbar and press on it. The labels will automatically appear.

Step 9

Now you need to insert a title. Double click on the word TITLE in your graph and type an appropriate title in the DISPLAY CHART TITLE.
