Environment Project
Paradise Elementary is committed to increasing awareness of Environmental issues both at school and in the community. A School Grounds Naturalization Project was started in 1999. The initial goal was to reclaim an unused section of land adjacent to the school and restore it as a natural habitat.

We are very pleased with the support and progress to date. The site now includes an outdoor classroom with seating for up to 36 students, 5 large garden beds, a wildflower meadow, and a woodland area with walking trails.

The area is ideal for experiencing first hand environmental issues such as conservation, wildlife habitats, ecosystems, biodiversity, erosion, etc. Students have been actively involved in the project since the beginning with cleaning up to planting most of the perennials, shrubs and trees.

Some examples of student participation:

Grade 3 students researched and planted a butterfly garden, Grade 5's participated in a native shrubs planting project and Grade 1's learned all about vermicomposting.
