PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM

Students at Paradise Elementary enjoy a Physical Education Program which exposes them to a variety of skills and activities.

The emphasis in primary (K-3) stresses coordination, agility, flexibility, and creative movement. Working with equipment and apparatus is also quite popular. Students learn the importance of classroom organization and cooperation through group work.

The elementary (4-6) stress the same physical and social skills as primary, but the emphasis is on organized games. Some of these include: volleyball, badminton, paddleball, gymnastics, soccer, softball, floor hockey, dodgeball, handball, orienteering, track and field, jump rope, and other activities.

Paradise Elementary has a very active extra-curricular program. Some programs which students may choose to become involved in throughout the school year include:

Grades 4/5/6
  • An opportunity to participate in Cross Country Running and Track and Field. These are weekend events. In this program students take part in some competitive races and challenges while at the same time representing their school proudly.

  • An Intramural Program scheduled three lunch hours per week with emphasis on volleyball, basketball, badminton, soccer, handball, and floor hockey(Grades 4/5/6).

  • An Officials Program where students learn the rules and take responsibility as an official and/or scorekeeper during an intramural activity. (Grade 6)

  • An Afterschool Sports Program for students in Grade 6 starting in September and concluding in June with emphasis on volleyball and badminton. Students will also be given the opportunity to take part in friendly competition against other schools, as well as to participate in various tournaments. Afternoon sessions run from 3:05 to 4:30 p.m.
